Product Description

The Meffert's Maltese Gear Cube is a mass-produced version of the original puzzle made in 2013 by Oskar Van Deventer. The puzzle has similar functionality to a gear mixup cube, but this one has even more gears and also features hollow corners, allowing you to see all the way through the puzzle.

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Works very well, but is very difficult

Turning on this cube is great, turns don't take an excessive amount of effort to get started, and when you finish a turn, everything locks into place. Because of the puzzle's design, I never had a gear skip, and I would be shocked if it ever popped. There is the occasional lockup, which, on my first (and currently only) solve, interrupted an algorithm, destroying progress. But, if you're careful with your turning, that shouldn't be an issue. This puzzle is definitely a major challenge, and is probably the hardest currently mass produced gear cube. To sum it all up, the only thing in the way of solving this puzzle is your own puzzle solving ability.

Very challenging puzzle

The puzzle turns quite well, although it locks up sometimes. Turning fast locks it up quite often, but it is possible. The gears move smoothly and I think this thing may be indestructible (haha). The solve is extremely challenging, and I wasn't able to do it on my first attempt. Using an altered method compiled of a few known methods of solving this cube, I solved it. The compilation can be found at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QiU8aitKY67rBUg1H0OMIenPi3Nb5Ksag9D0BqEs754/edit . Overall it is a great puzzle with a crazy solving experience. I would recommend it for anyone who's experienced with puzzles.

Overall its great

The cube turns well, is smooth and while it may not corner cut at all, it does have very strong ball bearings which help A LOT. The stickers are great quality. As for the solve itself, well its definetly a challenge but with enough time and persistence i was able to solve it

Great Cube, No Packaging

Cube looks and feels great but it came without any packaging, I bought this as a birthday gift so that was pretty disappointing.
