Product Description

The Meffert's 2x2 Egg is a metallized egg puzzle that is a shape modification of a 2x2. It features a high quality, metallized finish with the Meffert's and Adam logos on opposing sides of the egg. The puzzle has a clicking mechanism that allows the puzzle to click into place when the side is properly aligned.

Each Meffert's 2x2 Egg comes with an egg stand.

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

In an eggshell (pun intended), disappointing!

The advertising for this is very misleading. I thought that the actual egg would be made out of metal. It says "metallized puzzle" and "metallized finish" in the description, but this is made entirely out of plastic! Please take note of this if you are planning on buying it. The puzzle is entirely plastic with a reflective finish, which feels quite cheap in the hand. The golden stand is also entirely plastic and feels very cheap. I thought I could look past this, so I tried turning the puzzle. This was a big turn off for me, because the puzzle is SUPER LOUD when it turns as it has a clicking mechanism (similar to a skewb but this one is much louder). Hearing the constant crackling and snapping and clicking in the egg, I thought it was broken. But after reading the description and watching some video reviews, I knew that every 2x2 egg was manufactured this way. Yes, the clicking does help with lining up the egg but it's way too loud. To add to this list of cons, the egg is a fingerprint magnet and the finish gets scratched very easily. Just by trying to solve the egg I can also notice several scratches between each of the pieces. The paint is also peeling off on the inside edges (this must be where the ball bearings rub against the plastic). Since the egg is a bit larger than a standard 3x3 and is very smooth, it can be easily dropped if one is not careful. I accidentally dropped this while solving from maybe a 3 inch height onto a table and a few pieces popped off right away. Thankfully, I just popped them back in and it seems to be fine. What is not fine is the the hefty price tag. I know that these eggs are rare, but after using the puzzle I don't think it's worth the price, considering all the cons listed above.

It would be great if Meffert's made another one of these but actually made out of metal. Also, get rid of the annoying clicking mechanism inside, or at least make it quieter. Finally, please have somebody check for quality control before shipping these puzzles!
