Product Description

The mf8 Grilles II is a new 3x3 shape mod with 2 fully rotatable corner layers. The stickerless pink version comes with pink opposite red. Instead of the traditional stickerless pink scheme where pink replaces red, on this puzzle, pink replaces orange.

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

This cube has been a ton of fun to work out and solve. If you're comfortable with commutators and conjugates it's not too difficult to work out a few good algorithms. It has a similar level of complexity to a 5x5, but with a very different feel. It's basically a combination of a normal face turning 3x3 and a corner turner like a Redi cube or petal cube. But the orbits of both puzzles overlap making for some interesting steps to the solve. I also love the look of the stickerless version, the color scheme is unique and really works for this puzzle. And given the unique shapes of the pieces, there are a lot of fun patterns you can make on it.

It's not a perfect cube by any means though. The cube has a tendency to compress and squish in if you hold it with too much pressure; no doubt due to the numerous small pieces. It takes a while to get used to get the hang of holding and turning it in a way that doesn't catch horribly. Even after a month or so, it still feels like it catches a lot. It also popped on me a few times. But once you get used to handling it gingerly, the turning improves a lot. It's definitely a small thing to overlook given the unique and fun design of this cube.

Grilles is a fun puzzle to solve, glad I added it to my collection. I ordered the stickerless and it looks great, haven’t had any pops, and again a very fun solve

Skewb Cube

It looks like there is a 2D Skewb cube in the middle on each side!

Black version

I've purchased a second Grilles II, this time the black version.
I love the contrast. The stickerless, on the other hand, looks great scrambled but solved, it resembles any other cube. (Not worth displaying unless it's patterned or scrambled)

Best of the BEST!

I love this cube! I got the Stickerless (pink) version and have been truly delighted with this puzzle.
As I've read in another reviewers description... The puzzle has a "Squishy" feel. OOTB, I noticed that the puzzle was heavily lubed. Perhaps this was an indicator about the way the cube's pieces may catch and present issues with turns.
I've kept this in mind when scrambling and solving this cube.
I advise to anyone looking for a new fun puzzle to first have a true understanding of several other puzzle cubes and their mechanics.
These being; Not limited to, 3x3, 4x4, Helicopter, Skewb/Pyraminx and even a 2x3.
If you like these puzzles, as I do, you may also be pleasantly surprised with this puzzle because it combines all of these into one fabulously beautiful puzzle that seems to bring back the fun to a solve.
Be patient with turns, make sure all sides are lined up before turning. I use a flat surface like a table and periodically tap it down on at least 3 sides to align the small pieces. Watch the corners, they're easily turned/scrambled. This will hopefully save you from messing up a solve if you're in a hurry.
This puzzle is a wonderful work of art for collectors, a lesson in patience and skill. A fun challenge for any Cube-A-File like me.

A great puzzle with a couple of problems

This puzzle was stiff out of the box but loosened up by the end of the first solve. The corner sections were a little loose and so there were some alignment problems. It is a nice solve, with aspects of the Dayan Gem 8 and the Dreidel Cube. A single twisted corner parity is possible at the end.

Fun to solve

This cube is a good challenge and is quite enjoyable to solve. Only downside is that it can sometimes be hard to turn, but that is to be expected from a cube with this many pieces
