Product Description

The DaYan 2x2 46mm is the smaller of the two DaYan 2x2 sizes. It boasts an internal mechanism similar to that of the critically-acclaimed ZhanChi. It is quick but doesn't overturn and cuts corners nicely.

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Good for non magnetic

I received this to replace my Rubik's brand, so it would’ve been better no matter which one I bought. Ootb it was loud and dry and loose, but with lube and tensioning it became really great corner cutting isn’t the best and the shades absolutely suck, but it’s a good cube for the lack of magnets. I’m starting to feel the effects of it being too small after almost a year of owning it, but for someone with small hands or used to the almost identical size of the Rubik’s brand. I’m definitely upgrading to a new one in a month or so.

The new plastic is HORRIBLE

Ootb, it’s OK. I put some maru in because it was SO slow and it did nothing. It’s way to tight and tensioning it would be really bad because it POPS WAY TO MUCH! POP POP POPPITY POP. I’ve only had it for a month and I’ve had around 30 pops. The plastic makes it “squeaky”. Just get the YJ MGC 2x2. So much better.

Dayan 2x2 (NEW PLASTIC)

I didn't buy one of TheCubicle. The only reason why I have a DaYan 2x2 is because I was able to snatch one off ebay for about 9 dollars. But If I haven't found that deal, I would not have purchased it. Out of the box this cube is very slow. For 16 dollars, you would expect a cube that is about as good as it can get out of the box. However, this is not the case here, so therefore I do NOT recommend the DaYan 2x2, even If i had an old plastic.

Unusable

The cube was just far too unstable, OOTB it did fantastically, but, after very few turns it popped. Pops are far too common on this cube and I have found myself only touching it when a non-cuber scrambles it. During solves, I have to force my, admittedly turning to slow, making this cube, in my opinion at the least, one of the worse 2x2s on the market. Even after tensioning and setting up, however, it managed to continue popping every other solve. Don't waste your money on this cube.

Good Design Bad Cube ?????

This Cube is very good turning wise, but when I got mine, it was very loose between the tiles. Also it had tons of spots on the stickers. It is very easy to put together if it pops.

Huge mechanism problem, other than that good.

Disclaimer: I did not buy my DaYan from the cubicle, but this exact same problem has happened twice with two different Dayans from two different sellers from two different locations, so I thought Id spread my findings here.

Corner cutting: 7.5/10 at least 40
Reverse: 8/10 at least 40

Smoothness: 6/10 I got mine unlubed and it was very dry, scratchy, and springy sounding. These all wore away with time and lube.

Mechanism: 2/10. The mechanism of this cube is like a minature 3x3 but the large corners cover up the edge pieces. The little edge pieces is where the huge problem arouses. A few of the pieces have little nubs that attach themselves to the core, but only about 3 or so of them have these. This causes some of the non-nubbed pieces to easily fall out or twist sideways. For reasons I do not understand, if you try to fix these edge pieces, the locking problem remains. The only solution that I have found is to take out one of the nubbed pieces and just put the cube back together without it, however this greatly decreases stability.

Not to mention, the corner pieces. These things have the most hellish design they could possibly have: 3 pieces per. Now, if these were the same design as say, the corner piece of a stickerless 3x3, this would not be an issue. But these little demons are made with the strangest little connectors. Instead of being like a 3x3 corner and just having a bit slide into a hole, these things need to be shoved in at a specific angle, otherwise everything will go flying.

An amazing cube

It was to hard out of the box but after some lube and tension reduction, this cube turns out pretty well !
A very good cube for those who want to start speedcubing 2x2x2.
