Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Good, but not great

My first Shengshou big cube, It was somewhat great but my other shengshou big cubes are better. Got this around 2 and a half years ago and back then it was my favorite cube. now I own the Shengshou 11x11, and the Meilong 12x12 and both perform 10x better. I do not really play with the 8x8 anymore and keep it in my collection of cubes. I reccomend it if you are just going to impress people with a big cube, but if you are the speedsolving guy, go for the yuxin or moyu 8x8 (7/10 reccomend)

Best 8x8... Period

Save your time. Get this 8x8. Unless you find a v-cube, and that’s where it’s been at since 2014 when they FINALLY came out.

It's good, but only after loosening it

My aunt got me this as a birthday present. Out of the box, it was greasy, and that was to be expected of Shengshou puzzles. I have a 10x10 as well, and the 8x8 wasn't even comparable to the 10x10. The inner layers were TERRIBLE, and it couldn't even corner cut a full cubie. It was tight, as well.

After a couple of solves, I was fed up with the performance and loosened the cube up to have similar tensions to an out-of-the-box Shengshou 10x10. After that, the performance wasn't equivalent to the 10x10, but it was very good. Corner cutting is about a cubie and a half, and the inner layers are smooth....er. Believe me, the inner layers will never be as smooth as a 10x10's.

This 8x8 pops at least once every solve, but it's just a single piece flying out. It's pretty easy to put back in, though.

Review

I have had this puzzle almost a year now. Initially the puzzle comes tight, and the pieces caught a lot on each other, (due to some flash left on the pieces) and was just awe full in general. I solved it a few times and then loosened it up just a bit. After more breaking in and lubing this is an amazing cube. I have not lubed the core, or ever completely disassembled the cube (because I am afraid of loosing a piece). The puzzle is well built, but pops do happen often, but the pieces are easy to put back. The turning and corner cutting is excellent now, and the puzzle is now speed cube worthy. I highly recommend purchasing this puzzle, if you enjoy big cubes, and do not mind putting a lot of work in to the puzzle to make it good. Overall the ShengShou 8x8 has become one of my favorite puzzles to solve, and a great addition to my collection.

Somewhat fine.

This 8x8 is somewhat bad in certain ways sadly. I have one problem where I would turn the middle and something inside would get caught and I would have to undo the move and then redo it again. However that is the only problem with the cube, I also have experienced a couple of pops that were somewhat occasional. The cube does somewhat turn smooth but I just wanted to complete my collection that I have with Shengshou. I would somewhat recommend this cube.

Good Cube

Super smooth outer layers. Inner layers are a different story, the inner layers are crunchy. It has some lock ups but I can put them back in myself. Explosions happen sometimes and it's really hard for me to put the pieces back in.

The ShengShou 8x8 right out of the box is not as smooth-as-butter as the SS 6x6 and 7x7. The outer layers are very smooth, yes, but the inner layers have to be worked in. After a several solves it does get better. Well, whatever the case I love ShenShou's. When I have $$$ I'll be getting the 9x9. Can't wait!

bad

This cube was very tight and dry out of the box. Even when it was tensioned and lubed it was slow. If you want a horrible cube for more money than it's worth, then buy this. If you are willing to pay 10 dollars more, then the YuXin Huang long is the way to go

Smooth but....

The cube was fine out of the box but I noticed the extra plastic shavings inside and how the inner layers grind on each other but over all it is a great puzzle to solve.
