Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Exactly As I Expected: Good!

The original Dino Cube, while rare, is known to turn pretty badly. So later iterations of it must have improved on the mechanism, right? Correct! Getting the tensions as even as possible (and mine came pretty uneven out of the box) is probably more vital than most any other puzzle you'll come across actually. The reason why is because you don't want a side to unexpectedly turn a bit when you are trying to turn some other side and being a corner-twist puzzle where you are essentially always gripping at 45-degree angles, things slide around a lot when you push one part at so-and-so force and another one with less tension gives. When you do get it though, you'll find that it's a very smooth puzzle that even has some corner-cutting properties.

For example using the image of the puzzle above, if the orange-yellow-blue corner was turned slightly clockwise, you could turn the orange-yellow-green corner through it as long as the cut isn't too much. Around a third of a piece if it doesn't catch on the orange-blue piece (Again, this is where tensions help a lot). If the orange-yellow-blue corner is turned clockwise a bit over half, the orange-green-white corner can cut it if turned clockwise by pushing it back over like a gear (Yes, that led to a reversed first move, but I was just making that up as an example). There's virtually no reverse cutting though as the angles are just too sharp aside from across the center of the Xs where there's a large florian style hole. Even if you do all the tensions perfectly however, you have to understand that this "is" still a Dino Cube and thus there will be fairly frequent lockups. The way the cuts intersect with each other makes it rather unavoidable if you speedsolve as it's near impossible to turn that precisely for a entire solve. I think rounding the bottoms of the pieces would help intersections a bit, but reducing locks may also have to do with piece pivot as I'll explain in the next section.

A strange phenomena with this puzzle that I never seen before involves the corner caps where the screws are under the pieces. I found during tensioning that the puzzle seems to lock up less when the caps are not inserted. I haven't been able to figure out why though as I checked the surfaces of both the cap and the piece they go in and it's consistently flat, but my best guess is that it allows the pieces to have a bit more of a pivot and thus allow themselves to pass by each other in ways they normally couldn't. The downside of course is that it'll look a bit weird cosmetically as there's not much filler between pieces. But if you aren't worried about that, by all means remove the caps and see how it turns as you can always put them back in if you don't like how it turned out. Makes' it easier to adjust and test as you go if need be too.

Speaking of cosmetics, the sticker shades are your traditional Shengshou colors, which are excellent as they contrast nicely with each other under even low lighting. So I don't see any issue with recognition. Also, the stickers of mine were put on really nicely. All centered with only two bubbles due to some debris I flecked off the bottom of a sticker after peeling it back with a plastic blade. So very impressive in that regard too! Usually with a puzzle that has stickers from the factory I have to move a few, sometimes even a whole side. Not so here.

it’s super easy and a nice desk cube

The puzzle is super fun to just scramble and solve whenever I’m bored or distracted from work or school and I keep it on my desk. In the other hand it’s super catchy and at some times hard to turn but it’s not right or tiring to turn. A fun little puzzle for casual solving

Good first dino cube.

This cube is a good first Dino cube before you buy a more expensive one. It locks up extremely often due to the fact that all the sides MUST be in the perfect position to turn one side. It is super intuitive to solve, a lot of fun, some pleasure in solving is taken away because of the lockiness of the cube. Good first non-WCA cube for beginners, and good if you just want to solve a Dino cube. Wouldn't recommend to more experienced cubers though. Hope this helps!

Fun but sloppy

The build quality is poor on this cube. Keep in mind it is budget but this is about as budget as it gets. I like solving this cube but feel I half to be very careful with it. Some times I have to push the parts back together on the corners.

Ok

This puzzle is very fun to solve but it is EXTREMELY locky, and it moves when i dont want it to and it pops a lot, and when i do want it to turn it wobbles and slips out of my hand AKA it is really uncontrollable.

Very decent cube

This was my first ShengShou buy, and I was very impressed with the out-of-the-box quality. Although it did pop occasionally, and sometimes lock up, a very good cube for beginners and if pro cubers want a bit of a regular easy cube.
I would suggest this cube to some of my cuber friends(Who sadly have not solved a 4x4 like i haven't). Sadly, they call it a skewb with no centers. So they won't buy it.
Keep up the good work ShengShou!

Pretty Good Cube!

When I first got the cube, the cube locked up and catched alot.
After I used the cube for about a week, the cube didn't catch as much. This is a cool and interesting puzzle, overall, just use the cube alot to make the turning better, then it will make a cool and interesting puzzle!

It's a good dino cube, just needs a few improvements.

It came loose and pieces caught a lot. It also feels very cheap, unlike most Shengshou puzzles. It feels a bit like a YJ almost. The stickers are okay, a few bubbles here and there, and they're a bit misplaced, but at least they don't fall off. After a few adjustments, this could be really good.

Barely turns

The turning on this cube is very poor. Most of the other reviews of this product are positive, so I don't know if this problem is just with my cube or not. However, this is a budget cube so I can't complain about it being kind of low quality. if you are serious about speedcubing with this cube, I would recommend looking for a better quality cube.
