Product Description

The Gans 356 Weights Set is specially designed for use in the Gans 356. The weights can be installed inside the corners and edges with springs to hold them in place. This helps give the cube a different feel, depending on how many weights are added and where they are added.

This kit includes 24 weights, 16 springs, 1 screwdriver, and one nut driver (we didn't find the screwdriver or nut driver useful for the installation process, but they are included).

Our Promise to You

All of our products are guaranteed to be free of defects, or we will replace and reship at no cost to you. Please contact us within 4 weeks (28 days) past the delivery date to report any issues with items you have purchased.

Please note that some new cubes when being used for the first few times may experience what is termed a "pop". This is when one or more parts of a puzzle pop out without any damage actually being done to any of the pieces. This also occurs from time to time during normal usage. Pops are typically not considered a defect if the parts which come off can be reassembled by hand.

The corners on 2x2 puzzles should not be twisted as doing so may snap the piece. Damage caused by corner twisting is not considered to be a defect.

Does make a difference, not necessarily a good one

I wasn't sure whether a heavier cube would benefit my rough turning style but i decided to buy it any way and try it out. I only put one weight in each corner piece and it was already felt pretty heavy, after 10 solves i realised the weights weren't doing me any good. I was overshooting constantly and my left hand was starting to hurt.

After 50 solves i was starting to cramp in my left hand and my times were slightly worse than before, so i took the weights out and gave up. The weights almost double the weight of the cube and although this doesn't seem like a lot, you definitely feel it

Im certainly not a fan of the weights but If you like a quick cube i would definitely recommend them, without the weights i could barely do 180 with my tensions, with them i was almost reaching 270.

Another thing i have to note, the screw driver and wrench are useless. The screwdriver will strip your screws if you use it, i just used my own. I also have no idea at all what the wrench is for, i never had to use it.

Cube Killer Screwdriver :(

The screwdriver included in this set should not be used with a Gans 356 v2, you will strip your screws, and be very unhappy.

It would be better if they didn't include a screwdriver, IMHO.

As for the weights, I found they made things worse, personally. I might experiment with them more, if my cube's screws can deal with the damage the little screwdriver did.

Worth it

I put two nuts and a spring to keep them from moving in each corner. I also use the 9 turn springs (the lightest). It just feels better, and has better inertia. It also takes it from being a very light cube to the heaviest cube I've used.

It is very hard to get the caps to separate from the bases of this cube because the are so precisely molded. Just keep trying.
